Packed into a system about the size of a loaf of bread, the ScentScape Programmable Aroma Generator wants to immerse you just a little more in your next movie experience. Movies created with their proprietary ScentEditor software can release smells on cue to make your nose believe you are really there, like smelly subtitles. This system could really give your next customer presentation that extra sizzle, literally, by smelling like bacon.

The desktop USB version shown at CES featured a scent cartridge, similar to a printer ink cartridge, that can hold up to 20 distinct smells. The packs can be custom ordered or be media specific to accompany a movie or show that integrates this system. The cartridges should last for up to 200 hours of use, which is a lot of movies or product demos. At only $69 for the system and $19 for the editor software, smart sales people will start using these immediately. Tons of studies showing the link between scent and memory should make a very strong argument for giving it a try.

The 155-meter “The Streets of Monaco” luxury superyacht by Yacht Island Design boasts a design that recreates a small section of the Principality of Monaco, known for the Formula One track and the Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht comes with its own fully functional go-kart circuit. The yacht is like a floating island, which exploits the benefits related with SWATH platforms. For the magnificent yacht that incorporates land-based architecture into the superstructure, Yacht Island Design has collaborated with BMT Nigel Gee. UK-based Yacht Island Design said…

The art of producing a themed yacht is to seamlessly weave a story into every element of the design and is achieved via extensive consultation with the client during the initial phases of the design process.

The Streets of Monaco has been divided into four major external deck spaces. The upper deck features the main swimming pool with swim-in Jacuzzi/bar and the Casino Square, where you have a large glass-bottomed fountain. You can benefit from the sport activities in the yacht’s multi-purpose courtyard, which also doubles as a helipad. There are open sundecks and BBQ facilities aboard the yacht. Other communal areas are “The Oasis” and “The Grand Atrium.”

The Oasis: Inspired by the gardens outside the Monaco Casino, The Oasis is the main boarding point and features a central waterfall. On the lower level, there is the Spa with manicure and hair salon, sauna/steam rooms, a relaxation lounge with a spa pool and a bar, and a gym and café bar with underwater views.

The Grand Atrium: It connects the upper and lower living areas of the yacht. On the lower atrium are the seven guest suites, library, communal office, communal balcony and cinema. The upper atrium takes you to the entertainment area and the owner’s suite.






With top speed of 15 knots, The Streets of Monaco accommodates 16 guests and 70 crew in the utmost comfort. The other yacht by Yacht Island Design will be a smaller 85-meter yacht, which will be based around a Pacific Island theme.

That’s why we need a door handle that sterilizes itself. And why it’s not surprising that when someone designs a concept for one, they win a concept design award.

The self-sterilizing door handle was designed by Choi Bomi, and the design won a Red Dot Design Concept award. It’s a pretty simple, straight-forward idea. Door handles are dirty, so we need a way to make sure that they’re clean. Using UV lights, When the door handle is not being used, the UV lamps turn on, and start sterilizing the handle while it’s not being used. As soon as someone touches it, and turns it, then the UV lamps turn off. So, when the handle returns to its resting position, the lamps turn back on, and start killing bacteria and germs. A great idea, to say the least — so let’s hope it actually happens.

It seems that the design of self sterilizing concept will be a great idea for a public place.

The hybrid ferry was launched to run on a combination of solar, wind and diesel power; however, the new 1400hp New York Hornblower adds another source to the mix of energy source to compliment the trio, a proton exchange membrane fuel cell that turns hydrogen into electricity.

Vessel will be powered by solar panels and wind turbines and the diesel engine will step in wherever there will be a need for extra power. Scheduled to be completed by April next year, 600-passenger New York Hornblower Hybrid will be made of recycled glass countertops, LEED-certified carpet and aluminum wall coverings. The eco friendly ferry will have minimum carbon emission as it sips, rather than guzzle, diesel.

The yacht features an outdoor sundeck and two interior decks, including one with glass walls. Whereas the LED video screens and lighting will reduce the energy consumption, the long life, low volatile organic content paints will cover the vessel’s exterior. And, all these features will together help minimize the impact on environment with the help of a technology which is scalable to hybrid ferries, hybrid yachts and even hybrid tug boats.
